Ms. K hosted a Peek-a-Boo party and wanted a couple of photos to use as online profile pictures: beautiful portrait images, not necessarily boudoir. I think she looks stunning in her little black dress & she even got sexy for a couple of shots to keep for herself (and to prove to kids/grandkids later on down the road- “I was a hot momma!”)

A Peek-a-Boo shoot does not have to include lingerie! You could bring in a little black dress and a killer pair of heels or a cute fashion-y top and a pair of jeans. I want you to feel confident and sexy despite how much (or little) you are wearing!

Mrs. W and I met at the WDBR Bridal Extravaganza back in January. She was so excited to do a shoot for her hubby as a wedding gift & incorporate his love for the Marines into her images. Sexy AND classy!

Mrs. S called me a bit frantic- “I’ve just recently worked up enough courage to call you for a boudoir shoot! I’m getting married in Scotland in 3 weeks, is there still time!?” Little did she know, I work best under pressure!

We had a blast during the photoshoot- Mrs. S had her hair and makeup done by the fabulous Laurel Badger and brought in a gorgeous corset to wear (this is the one piece of lingerie I swear by if you are at all self conscious of your mid-section!). She and her fiance are self-proclaimed “gaming nerds” and play online video games for date nights! She knew incorporating her laptop and gaming headset into her shoot would mean a lot to her man- I can’t wait to hear how much he loves his gift!

It’s that dreaded time of year again. Women everywhere are cringing at the racks of swimsuits displayed at department stores. Shopping for something to wear to the pool is downright painful (I usually wind up eating my feelings afterward- in the form of pasta or ice cream) and those awful dressing rooms don’t do much to flatter us (the lighting & 180 degree mirrors, need I say more?)

In hopes of making your hunt for the perfect suit a little less painful and help you avoid a body image meltdown, here are some of my tips and suggestions for finding a figure flattering Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini- wink!

1. While shopping, ALWAYS bring along a pair of your tallest heels. They’ll help elongate your legs and you won’t feel so dumpy standing in the dressing room wearing your swimsuit and socks!

2. The #1 problem area I hear about from my clients is the tummy. If this is an area of concern for you, look for a suit with ruching (like this one from Nordstrom) or, if you dig the two-piece, try a tankini that floats away from the midsection.

3. To avoid drawing attention to the bottom half of the body, look for two pieces with a solid bottom and printed top, or a one piece with a deep V or embellishment at the top (Like this one from Macy’s).

4. Stay away from horizontal stripes.

5. If the girls need a little umph- check out the Bombshell suit from Victoria’s Secret (pictured below). Trust me, you’ll love it. You can also look for suits that give extra volume at the top with ruffles like this.

6. Pick out a super cute sheer coverup- it’s sexy and will make you feel more comfortable walking around the pool/beach. I also love the idea of wearing a maxi dress as a beach coverup- then you don’t have to worry about going somewhere afterwards and feeling scrubby!

7. Invest in a pair of wedge flip flops (pictured below from Bebe) They’re comfy and will do the same thing as the heels in #1!

8. I swear by Jergans Natural Glow Firming Lotion- and you don’t have to worry about being orange or splotchy!

9. Instead of trying to cover up and hide your hips behind a skirted swim bottom or boyshorts- try a high cut bikini bottom. It’s much more flattering and will elongate your legs- not cut you off at the widest part of your hips like the skirt or shorts

10. When looking at printed fabrics, try to match your body size with the size of the print- curvy women can wear larger prints while petite gals should stick with
smaller patterns.

Mrs. C told me wanted to do a sexy boudoir session not only to put a spark back into her 20+ year marriage, but more importantly, to do something for herself! I had the pleasure of photographing this Grecian Goddess as a gift for her fiance. She has such a fun bubbly personality and totally rocks the curves she was blessed with- I can’t get over how gorgeous she looks! I loved seeing this little note in my inbox after she surprised her man with a Personalized Greeting Card, Eye Candy Album and Nightstand Print:

“He loved it! It was funny because he kept asking me who took the photos! When he opened the greeting card he asked me who that was on the front! He didn’t even recognize me!

His favorite pic is the very last one, where I’m wearing his shirt. When he read the inscription he got all teary eyed. He was very surprised, but he loves the photos!!

Everyone should know how great you are! And women should do this, not just for their men, but for themselves

I have heard so many clients tell me their “problem area” is their tummy. I get it. I have yet to see a real life woman (ie non-model) with the abs of a Victoria’s Secret model.

If you know that this is an area of discomfort for you, I don’t recommend bringing 5 bra and panty sets to your shoot. While they may be sexy, they lack variety and limit the different poses I an put you in because I’m focusing on de-emphasizing what you don’t absolutely love about your body. I looove corsets, teddies, rompers and chemises as lingerie pieces. If you still want to be sexy, but not show as much skin- you CANNOT go wrong with a little black dress!
